BLR 308 feeding problems. Took my rifle to the range yesterday and it was shooting great. Then on my last clip when i tried to pull thr lever down to load the first round and the bullet underneath popped up out of the magazine as well. I am relatively new so might be called double feeding? I am assuming maybe the clip got bent? Could that be it?

Wonder if you had too many loaded in the magazine, resulting in the top round not being captured by the lips? Could you repeat the malfunction or was it a "one time" occurrence?

The BLR does not use a 'clip'. One occurrence of mis-feeding may be just an anomaly and could be due to many different factors including operator error. "Once is happenstance, twice is coincidence, three times is enemy action." Goldfinger clean & check the magazine for any obvious damage or wear or burr, Good Luck, YMMV

It happens every time now. Even with 2 bullets in the magazine. I do believe the lips are bent somewhere

For how long, how many rounds was it working correctly? What happened just before the problem started? Have you disassembled the magazine to clean and inspect the spring? After a search of your postings, You obtained the rifle with no mag? Anyone attempting to diagnose your problem is going to need all the facts documented in logical order. I suggest you start by attempting to create a complete printed paper chronological log of everything you know about this rifle and all of the problems and especially of any work or modification done.

Take it back to the second gunsmith you used. He at least seems to know what he is doing. Try to find another mag, try P.A. Lacombe 613-674-2022 cta-inc@vpweb.ca. They had some pre 81 mags, also check Western Gun Parts in Edmonton. As far as the bolt jamming, I would say it is still not timed properly. Short version of how to time a Browning: Some of the older models repair information states that when the action is properly timed, cocking the hammer will allow the breech bolt slide to move to the rear a maximum of .015. Headspace trick - It has a bull pinion that the large gear meshes with the bolt and the small gear meshes with the gear segment in the lever. It has fewer teeth than the big gear. Don't put your pins (screws on some models) in tight until you get the timing set correctly. First close the bolt making sure the bolt carrier is all the way forward and the bolt head turned and locked. Now take a piece of duct tape and tape the rear of the bolt where the hammer strikes the firing pin so it can't move out of the receiver. What you are going to do now is strictly trial and error. Fit the bull pinion in and out until the lever is all the way closed and the large gear is meshed with the rack gear in the bottom of the bolt carrier and the hole in the center of the gear is in line with the hole in the receiver. I don't remember how many teeth are in the small gear but that is how many chances you have of getting it right. One gear has a even number of teeth and the other gear has an odd number of teeth and that gives it the option of being adjustable. Last edited by Dean2; 07-31-2014 at 12:06 PM.

The problem i am having is what if i pick up anotjer magazine and it does the same thing? For close to 300 i could just get a new rifle. I would believe that because 2 bullets are popping up it is the magazine. But even when its loaded and i pull to discharge its quite hard to finally pull the lever down. Maybe i will just have to load kne in the chamber at a time. Only need one ahot to drop a deer right haha

Since there is more than one variant of the rifle, are you sure you have a proper magazine for the series of rifle you have? The early BLR magazine did not have a flat bottom on it, the later one did, they are NOT interchangeable. __________________
